Enjoyed the piece and glad to hear more people coming around to the reality that more gun control isn't needed. Most deny the real issue at hand - we're living in crazy times where people would rather demonize someone for pointing out obvious mental health issues and use literally any other excuse to exercise power over innocent people.

They determined only 123 out of 27,900 gun violence studies were rigorous enough to provide meaningful results. And t

As the statistictian Aaron Brown points out: "The 123 were the best in the bunch but still had serious defects. The only thing we can say confidently is that even the most widely trumpeted results are likely based on random chance alone. Even if gun laws pass, we could expect a fraction of 1% change in gun homicides in the following year. Compare that to a 6% change in homicides in years where no gun laws were passed."

And most importantly, he states "Gun control laws based on flawed research can have tremendous costs to society. They turn otherwise law abiding citizens in to criminals and they increase prosecutorial power and mass incarceration. They exacerbate the racial and socioeconomic inequities in the criminal justice system."

Gun control laws aren't just ineffective to stop the problem politicians claim to care about, they're actively divisive and make inequalities worse.
