I won’t bury the lede like many others trying to get clicks and attention. I will tell you straight up (and hope you continue to read further to find out why):

The most overused law in existence today is Poe’s Law.

If you’ve never heard of it, don’t feel bad. Now that you have heard of it, though, you’ll soon understand why it’s the most used law today. I apologize in advance if it starts to consume your mind as you notice examples of it every day. Literally every day. In my case, all day every day. It’s used so much that it’s no longer even fun or funny to find more examples.

So, what is Poe’s Law?

Poe’s Law:
“Without a clear indicator of the author’s intent, every parody of extreme views can be mistaken by some readers for a sincere expression of the views being parodied.”

In other words, when you’re online — either reading a tweet, Facebook post, or even an article — it is now impossible to create a parody that is more extreme than something someone actually believes.
